My Breakout Saviours

Body shop tea tree skin clearing toner - £4.50.
Neutrogena's visibly clear cleanser/mask from Boots - £3.79.

I had a few breakouts a couple of weeks ago and decided to purchase these two products.

How I use the product:
I take my makeup off and then use the Neutrogena cleanser to cleanse my face. You can use this as a daily cleanser as well as a mask, so once a week I'll use this as a mask and leave it on my face for about 5 minutes.

After cleansing my face I'll saturate some of the toner onto a cotton pad and wipe it all over my face. (You have to shake the bottle to activate the toner.) This gets rid of any remaining impurities, and includes tea tree oil which is used as an anti-bacterial substances and helps kill the bacteria that could result to spots.

My verdict:
Neutrogena cleanser/mask: It has quite a strong smell to it - which I don't really find unpleasant, just a bit strong sometimes. When you wash the product off, it leaves your skin feeling quite tingly and super smooth, which I really like! It makes your skin feel clean without feeling OVER clean and dried out. But, it's quite thick and ''mask like'' so you have to make sure you wash it off properly.

Body shop toner: The toner also leaves my face feeling tingly, but I quite like the feeling as I feel like the product is working! The smell is ok, just smells like tea tree.

Both products are really cheap!

Overall:
I've been using these two products everyday for about 2 weeks and I haven't had any breakouts or the odd spot since. I don't get many spots anyway, just the odd one or two every month and sometimes I'll have small bumps on my skin which I hate. But, I would rather prevent spots before I do get any rather than try to cure it when I have them. I would really recommend either of these products for anyone who gets spots, because they really work well.

Oh, I went back home for the weekend and I didn't take my cleanser, and I could feel myself getting a spot near my nose! I don't know if this was a coincidence or if the cleanser really does prevent spots that well. Either way, I will be using these for a while now.

FOTD and NOTD

My nails for the week (or when I get bored of them).. I've been searching for a nice pastel lilac colour but I haven't found one I like yet. Barry M are launching an 'Ice Cream' collection and I quite like the look of the lilac in that collection.. So I'll have to get my hands on that when it comes out! :D

Face Routine

I have a few foundations that I choose from depending on what type of mood I'm in. Usually, when I have breakouts I'll use Missha's BB cream. When I'm going out or want a high coverage I'll use my Revlon colourstay. For everyday use it'll be either Laniege's snow crystal dual foundation or the Giorgio Armani lasting silk.

First I prime my face with Neutrogena brightening uv moisture, I let that absorb for a while then use my Mac 109 brush to apply which ever foundation I choose for the day - blending well.

I then use Maybelline's pure cover mineral concealer for my undereye circles, which I blend with my fingers.

For blemishes or any breakouts I use Beauty Tech's ice cream concealer, again using my fingers.

After all this, I use my Mac 134 brush and lightly sweep Mac's MSF all over to set everything.

Neutrogena and SPF

A couple of years ago I wasn't really bothered about SPF or having any sort of protection on my face. But my mum use to always moan at me telling me I'll get freckles and age prematurely, which freaked me out! When I sunbathe I'll put SPF 50+ on my face and SPF 30 on my body, but I'll always cover my face with a towel or something because I don't want freckles. (Nothing wrong with freckles, just I don't have them so I don't want them.)

Anyways, for about a year now I've been using Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening UV Moisture SPF 50+ as a base for my make up partly because it makes a really good base, but mainly because it has a high SPF. I bought this from HK and used it there when I first bought it, but carried on using it in England eventhough the sun isn't as strong.
On the packaging it claims to have a 'protective multi-vitamin complex with antioxidants, including Vitamins A, C and E, and green tea extract - helps prevent environmental damage that may accelerate the signs of aging.'

The consistency is really light, actually sometimes it can feel a little drying because it's so light. It absorbs really well - which is what I like about it because usually creams with high SPF are quite greasy.

The down side is the bottle/tube. It's really hard to squeeze sometimes because it's so stiff.

Shiseido Maquillage Palettes

I love these palettes, they're really handy for travelling and include super pigmented eyeshadows. Each set has one cream base, one highlighter and then shades of eyeshadow.

This one is my favourite, neutral colours which are suitable for everyday. This was out with the Maquillage X Alexander Wang collection last year and I use this nearly everyday. The purpose of this palette was to create ''3D eyes'' the colours are meant to be layered to create defined, but natural eyes. The brown cream shadow can be used as an eyeliner as well.

My mum bought this home from HK for me when she went a while back. I don't use this palette much, because I'm not too keen on pink eye shadow. But, I do use the highlight colour and the cream base sometimes.

I used to use this, but I stopped using this once I got my Alexander Wang palette. This was really good for when I had tired eyes, made them appear more awake and fresh.

Anyway I really recommend these palettes. They are good quality, really handy and last for a long time. The only downside would be if you don't like shimmer, everything in the set is pretty shimmery.
